My grandmother passed away a week ago and was in my dream. We were at a packed theatre to watch someone give a talk. My ex mother in law saw me there and gave me a big hug and was crying saying she loved my grandmother and how sorry she was. I remember I did not feel like crying in the dream and just pretended to cry. My grandmother appeared in the dream, but we all knew she was a hologram of sorts and that she was already gone. But she was as funny as ever. She and my mother in law were having a conversation about New years and complaining about people who get upset and emotional when the year ends and call to say happy new year to others. They said "Why can't people just accept that the year is over". Then I sat next to my grandmother and I asked her if she missed me in heaven because I missed her very much. She said "no no I don't miss you" but she was crying and that made me happy and I held her hand tightly. The theatre was very packed. My best friend's mother and brother and her son were there. But my best friend was not. The back part of the theatre was more packed than the front and my grandmother was with my ex mother-in-law at the front sitting together away from everyone. But my grandmother stood up and joined the crowd at the back. She always loved being among people. It was the first time I dreamt of her since she died.
I am sorry for your loss. Dreams can often reflect our emotions, thoughts, and memories. In this dream, the presence of your grandmother may symbolize your desire to connect with her and hold on to the memories and love you shared. The packed theatre could represent the crowded emotions and thoughts that you may be experiencing during this time of grieving. The interaction between your ex-mother-in-law and your grandmother suggests the support and acknowledgement of your grandmother's impact on your life. The hologram-like appearance of your grandmother may symbolize the awareness of her physical absence but the preservation of her spirit and essence in your memories. The conversation about New Year's and people getting emotional about the end of the year may reflect a philosophical perspective on acceptance and embracing change. It may also symbolize your need to find comfort in the idea that your grandmother is at peace and would not want you to dwell on her absence. Your question to your grandmother about missing you and her response may hold significance. Although she says she doesn't miss you, her tears and your subsequent happiness indicate the depth of your connection and the emotions you are experiencing. Holding her hand tightly signifies a desire for closeness and a sense of reassurance. The presence of your best friend's family, while your best friend is absent, might signify the support and presence of those closest to you during this difficult time. Overall, this dream may reflect various emotions and thoughts that are related to your grandmother's passing, including the longing for her presence, the desire for connection and comfort, and the importance of cherishing the memories you have. It may be a way for your mind to process your grief and find solace in the bond you shared with your grandmother.
